TYCM submits memo to CS

Imphal, April 28 2025: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters, submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, on April 28, 2025, urging the Government to transfer all civil works of non-engineering/technical departments to the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ltd (MTDC) in respect of the hill/tribal areas of Manipur.

In a release, the TYCM informed that various development infrastructures constructed in the hill/tribal areas of Manipur by non-engineering/technical departments, such as the Health Department, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Department, Sericulture Department, Horticulture Department, Tourism Department, and others, are being executed through the Manipur Development Society (MDS) instead of the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ltd (MTDC) .

The TYCM asserted that after thorough investigation of various non-engineering/technical departments, it was found that most of the civil works of non-engineering/technical departments in the hill/tribal areas of Manipur are being executed by the MDS .

"If all civil works of non-engineering/technical departments continue to be executed by MDS in the hill/tribal areas, the MTDC will become redundant/irrelevant and lose its purpose", it added.

The TYCM also claimed that currently, the MTDC is dysfunctional and unable to operate effectively due to the lack of transfer of civil works for the hill/tribal areas of Manipur to the MTDC by the non-engineering/technical departments.

"Therefore, there is no need to execute all civil works by the MDS in the hill/tribal areas of Manipur while the MTDC exists", added TYCM .
