Imphal, May 24 2025:
All India Kisan Congress (AIKC) president Sukhpal Singh Khaira has urged the Central Government to provide adequate assistance to farmers, particularly those whose farming activities have been severely impacted by the protracted crisis besetting Manipur.
Launching Kisan Nyay Yodha, a Nationwide movement at Congress Bhavan today, Sukhpal Singh said that many farmers in Manipur are unable to access their fields or resume agricultural work, while some farmers have lost their lives amid the ongoing crisis.
He alleged that the BJP Government has failed to provide adequate assistance to affected farmers, instead prioritizing support for big corporations.
Saying that the Government has been decentralizing National wealth to serve the interest of corporate houses, he claimed that the Centre has also waived off Rs 15 lakh crore loan of corporates and the same is disheartening.
Sukhpal Singh said that the Congress leaders have been consistently raising farmers' issues both within and outside Parliament.
Stating AIKC launched the Kisan Nyay Yodha to demand justice for farmers, he urged the Centre to provide a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP), waive farm loans, offer subsidies on seeds, fertilizers, and other farming inputs, and ensure adequate compensation to farmers under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013.He, on the other hand, said that AIKC has launched a mobile application to connect with farmers.
MPCC president K Meghachandra, on the other hand, said that a State level Kisan Convention will be held at Awang Jiri under Konthoujam Constituency tomorrow.
