Nod to Child Care Leave

In a notable development, the Manipur Government has approved the adoption of the Central Government's Child Care Leave (CCL) and Special Maternity Leave (SML) during a meeting of the "Governor-in-Council" held at Raj Bhavan chaired by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today.
According to a press release issued by N Ashok Kumar, Commissioner (Finance), the CCL is for women employees and single male employees of the Government with minor children below 18 years of age.
It will be granted for a maximum period of 730 days during their entire service for the purpose of taking care of upto two eldest surviving children.
Meanwhile, the SML, which is distinct from regular maternity leave, will be granted to female Central Government employees for 60 days under specific circumstances, notably in the case of stillbirth or death of an infant within a few days of birth.
