Limited NABL-accredited labs in State draw attention at MTU programme

The scarcity of NABL-accredited laboratories within the State of Manipur emerged as a significant point of concern during a recent awareness programme held at the Manipur Technical University (MTU) .
As per a release issued by MTU, the event was part of the Gunvatta Yatra Initiative by the Quality Council of India (QCI).
The programme was organised by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), a constituent board of QCI under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
It was hosted by the Department of Civil Engineering in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Cell, MTU.
The primary goal was to educate local industries, laboratories, and academic institutions on the critical importance of NABL accreditation for ensuring quality, technical competence, and global acceptance of testing and calibration results.
Ashutosh Debnath, an NABL Consultant and the resource person for the event, delivered an insightful presentation ' on the accreditation process and its benefits.
He underscored how accreditation boosts customer confidence and enables international recognition.
He specifically drew attention to the urgent need to strengthen the quality infrastructure in the State due to the limited number of existing accredited facilities.
The awareness programme saw the participation of more than 50 professionals and representatives from key regional institutions, including the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, MTU, and Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) .
Participants concluded the programme by taking the "Quality Bharat Pledge", reaffirming their commitment to promoting quality and best practices in their respective professional domains.
