Imphal, September 12 2025:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and several other CSOs have decided to stay away from the public rally which would be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 13, 2025 at Kangla.
Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office today, AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang said that AMUCO and many other like-minded CSOs do not welcome Narendra Modi's visit.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not listen even once to the repeated appeals and petitions made by the people of Manipur since the violent crisis erupted.
"The Prime Minister is coming after almost two years and a half and we don't welcome his visit to lay foundation stones and inaugurate projects", Nando said.
It is essential to inform the world that the people of Manipur are suffering the same misery today too as they did two years back.
Even as many innocent people were murdered in the most brutal manner, Prime Minister Narendra Modi looked the other way and he did not show the slightest concern to the Jiribam massacre where three women and three children were abducted, tortured and murdered in the most ghastly manner in cold blood.
The Government of India did not place any value on the priceless lives of the victims nor did it try to understand the tears of the suffering people, Nando said.
He then called upon all the people to recall how the Government of India treated the people of Manipur over the past two years and a half.
"We must not be a forgetful society.
We must recall the past events and the callousness of the Government", Nando said before appealing to all the people to decide whether they should welcome the Prime Minister's visit or not.
"If we cannot take a correct decision, no one will respect or understand the value of our tears", Nando added.
Before going to the Modi's rally, one needs to ponder whether it would not be betrayal of the lost souls and the collective suffering if one goes to the rally just because he/she is given a paltry sum.
AMUCO and the people might have welcomed Narendra Modi had he visited Manipur two years back with genuine concern for the people of Manipur, Nando said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned away from Manipur when the people of the State needed him direly.
As a result, many precious lives were lost and many people are still missing, he said.
It seems Prime Minister Narendra Modi is overlooking all these pressing issues and the prolonged crisis and he is making a brief stop in Manipur in view of local body elections during his visit to Mizoram and Assam, the AMUCO president remarked.
Representatives of several other CSOs which have been working together with AMUCO were also present at the press meet.
