Ukhrul, June 12 2025:
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has debarred two Muslim men from Tangkhul regions covering both Ukhrul and Kamjong district for the alleged murder of AS Thotshang of Tushar village on May 20 at Awungtang Hungpung village, Ukhrul.
The banned duo have been identified as Abhiz Uddin and Mufif Uddin alias Muna who were residents of Hungpung village in Ukhrul.
A press conference was held today in this connection at TNL president's office chamber.
Addressing the media persons, TNL president Sword Vashum shared that Thotshang had visited a motor workshop at Awungtang Hungpung to repair his car.
Abhiz Uddin, who worked as a mechanic at the workshop owned by Mufif Uddin, allegedly slit Thotshang's throat and is the prime accused in the case.
Abhiz allegedly murdered Thotshang for no reason and absconded while Mufif was the man behind the scene.
The latter reportedly also has a criminal background.
The duo were later arrested in Assam, he added.
Sword Vashum suggested that the Ukhrul police should also arrest the two other mechanics working at Mufif Uddin's workshop as both were staying adjacent to the room where the murder occurred.
As the rooms were separated only by a thin sheet, the arrest of the two other mechanics will help the investigation, he maintained.
However, they were unfortunately found roaming freely in town.
Considering the severity and seriousness of the incident, TNL held a co-ordination meeting of all Ukhrul CSOs and unanimously resolved to ban Abhiz Uddin and Mufif Uddin from Tangkhul regions.
It was also resolved that no villages in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts should give any space or route in their areas for establishing businesses.
The TNL president went on to remind the Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) dealing with the case of Late Thotshang that the public is watching over the case to ensure that justice is delivered to the victim's family.
Adding that TNL will not compromise with justice, Sword said "no bail" for the duo.
Stating that Thotshang was the sole breadwinner of his family, TNL further urged the Government to grant appropriate compensation to the bereaved family.
TNL has also demanded fitting punishment to the perpetrators as per the law of the land.
The case has now been transferred to the District and Session Court with the second hearing scheduled for June 26 .
