Imphal, May 11 2026:
The Meitei Alliance has strongly condemned the May 7 pre-dawn attack on three Kamjong border villages of Namlee, Wanglee and Choro, carried out by Myanmar-based Kuki militants using sophisticated weapons, explosives, and drone-borne bombs.
The attack, allegedly launched by heavily armed militants, Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and other armed groups operating from Myanmar, left dozens of houses destroyed and burnt.
Vehicles were set ablaze and properties were looted, and civilians were abducted.
This was a serious cross border terror attack and it marks a deeply alarming escalation in the continuing cycle of violence in Manipur, said the Meitei Alliance in a statement.
"The continuing violence attributed to transnational Kuki militant networks operating from both India and Myanmar, along with the repeated lack of acknowledgment, accountability, and decisive action, raises serious concerns among both Naga and Meitei civilians that armed militant groups are being appeased under the cover of the Suspension of Operations framework," said the alliance.
The inaction on the part of the Government violates the spirit of the Constitution of India, which obligates the State to ensure the security, equality, and protection of all citizens, and it undermines democratic gover- nance, Constitutional morality, and National unity, it added.
The Central and the State Governments must acknowledge and immediately take firm actions to neutralise the perpetrators of the May 7 attack, as well as all cross-border terrorist elements operating from Myanmar, said the Meitei Alliance.
A thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, with full accountability for all those responsible, including any lapses in border security, intelligence, and administrative response must be initiated, the alliance demanded.
It further demanded "a comprehensive review and termination of any policy, arrangement, or agreement, including the Suspension of Operations framework, that enables, shields, or emboldens armed militant groups" .
Demanding firm enforcement of the rule of law across Manipur, the alliance said the Government must engage with civil society organizations across communities to restore peace, prevent further escalation, and recognize the shared suffering of civilian populations at the hands of armed and disruptive forces.
The Meitei Alliance stands in full solidarity with the affected Tangkhul Naga communities of Choro, Wanglee, and Namlee, and with all innocent victims of violence in Manipur, it said.
Peace cannot be achieved through appeasement, denial, or selective action.
It requires resolute governance, justice for every victim, protection for every civilian, and the complete dismantling of terrorist networks that threaten the people and territorial integrity of Manipur, the Meitei Alliance added.
