Imphal, June 08: A felicitation function of Qr Rishang Keishing, the lone Rajya Sabha MP of Manipur was organised here at Nagaram Community Hall, Imphal today by Eastern Tangkhul Naga Baptist Association (ETNBA).

The programme, according to a committee member of ETNBA Easternlight Shadang, is being designed to show their respect to Rishang on being elected as Rajya Sabha MP for the second consecutive tenure.

Easternlight said, "We owe deep gratitude to Qr Rishang who is the eldest among elders for all the things he had done in every aspect and for what he is today," "We are like grand children of Rishang whom we are proud of and this programme itself is a great blessing for all of us," he added.

Speaking on the occasion, asst prof (Physician) RIMS Dr Robinson Ningshen, said, our society today is moving backward instead of progressing because we fail to realise our responsibility.

Explaining the role of religious leaders today in the society, Robinson pointed out that many pastors and other religious leaders are concerned only with their routine work and most of them are confined to what they call 'spiritual matter' totally ignoring the other aspects of life.

While speaking to The Sangai Express, Robinson said, religious leaders should come out of their narrow mentality and render more efforts to search for the lost ship only then can they prove themselves to be real followers of Christ.

He also expressed his concern upon the need to groom people physically and mentally besides providing spiritual necessities and urged especially religious leaders to take firm initiative.

Speaking on his blessing day, Rishang, who is regarded for his political acumen claimed that he had come this far not because of his ability but because of spiritual strength he receives each day he lives and exhorted the congregation that everyone whether poor or rich is equal in the eyes of God.

Recalling the works he had done so far, the keen political observer mentioned that there should not be any feeling of partiality as citizens of Manipur and emphasised on the need to inculcate the feeling of oneness in each individual to ensure a peaceful co-existence in the State of Manipur.
