Speaking at the occasion, T Meinya observed that very few people have adequate health awareness.
He further advocated for inclusion of a subject on health care in school curriculum starting from primary level.
Stating that the Government of India has been taking up various welfare schemes for the poor sections of the society, the MP noted the necessity to check the benefits of these schemes are reaching the underprivileged sections.
Citing programmes like Rural Health Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Meinya asserted that people, particularly poorer sections will be greatly relieved if the benefits of these schemes actually reached the targeted beneficiaries.
Kh Parmodkumar noted that people of the State seldom go for medical check-up unless they got ill.
The camp sponsored by Aircel and MP T Meinya was conducted by four doctors.
Later saplings of indigenous trees like Nageshwar, Mukthrubi, Heiribok etc were planted at the Rotary Club compound.
