Imphal, June 08:
Father of one SK oil agent accused of selling kerosene at more than Rs 14 per litre against the joint declaration of the proscribed UNLF and KYKL was pulled up by a joint team of the two outfits yesterday.
Parading the agent's father at a location in Thoubal district last night, spokespersons of the two outfits said that Md Abdul Hei (55) s/o late Md Maheiruddin Khan of Sangaiyumpham Pulleipokpi under Khangabok Assembly constituency was selling 2500 litres of SK oil at the rate of Rs 22 per litre.
Altogether 2500 litres of kerosene were allotted to Abdul's son Md Abdul Karim who is an SK oil agent for five months (November 2007 to March 2008).Instead of distributing kerosene to the people, Abdul was selling the oil at a much higher rate in black market, stated the spokespersons.
As SK oil agent of the locality, Abdul Karim should distribute kerosene to 255 households.
He receives monthly allotment of 500 litres of kerosene at Rs 9.60 per litre from the Government.
Though he was guilty for selling SK oil meant for the people at increased rates in his own personal interest, Abdul would be excused this time but with a strong warning, they conveyed.
In case, he is found indulging in such activity of swindling public property, Abdul should accept whatever punishment given to him by the parties and the people, the spokespersons warned.
They further appealed to the people to inform either UNLF or KYKL if any agent is found distributing SK oil at the rate of more than Rs 14 per litre or any household is receiving less that the allotted quota.
