JAC warns of launching stir

Accusing the in-laws of N Bidyapati of Thongju Pichu Lampak Laishram Leirak having hands in the death of Bidyapati, the JAC formed in connection with the death of Bidyapati has today demanded that the culprits be punished in public.
The JAC also warned of launching agitation in case the demand is not responded in the positive.
Addressing news persons today at the Manipur Press Club, co-convenor of the JAC against the brutal killing of Bidyapati, N Heman said Bidyapati died at RIMS hospital on September 26 due to physical injury following a brawl in her in-law's house on September 25 .
He said the injury marks in her body invited suspicion that she was brutally assaulted before her death.
He added that the claim of her in-laws that she died as a result of a fall was unfortunate.
The JAC co-convenor said the rate of crime against women or domestic violence is on the rise as no perpetrators involved in domestic violence is punished so far.
An FIR was also registered at Kakwa PS regarding the death of Bidyapati.
The husband of Bidyapati was also sent to jail today.
However, the JAC expressed strong resentment that no tangible punishment has been given to the culprit(s).
Demanding that the culprits be punished in public, the JAC warned of launching agitation in case the demand is not met.
