SC Judges' presence marks completion of 12 years of Manipur HC

The presence of Judges from the Supreme Court of India and the Union Minister of State, Law and Justice in Manipur is a reflection of the attention and care the entire Nation has towards the State, stated Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
Speaking as chief guest at the duodecennial celebration marking 12 years of establishment of the High Court of Manipur at the High Court complex this morning, the Governor said that all have worked tirelessly with dedication to ensure that the rule of law prevails in Manipur.
The duodecennial celebration was also attended by Judges of Supreme Court of India Justice BR Gavai, Justice Vikram Nath, Justice MM Sundresh, Justice KV Viswanathan, Justice N Kotishwar Singh and Union Minister of State, Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal as special guests.

High Court of Manipur Chief Justice D Krishnakumar attended the function as functional president, High Court of Manipur Judges Justice Ahanthem Bimol, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Advocate General Lenin Hijam, Bar Council of Manipur Chairman S Brajabihari, High Court Bar Association of Manipur president Y Nimolchand and All Manipur Bar Association president P Tomcha attended the celebration as guests of honour.
The Governor stated that the Government of India through judiciary and Ministry of Law and Justice has shown strong support to restore peace, progress and prosperity in the State which is a clear message that all are united in their commitment to ensure rule of law and justice in the State.
Manipur has a rich judiciary legacy from ancient times of the Court of Kutchu and Pacha and with the passage of time, the judicial administration in the State has transcended through various establishments.
The Cheirap Court complex which is in the heart of the capital, being one of the most important judiciary establishments in history and in the pre-independence era.
The Manipur State Durbar used to hold both original and appellate jurisdiction over the civil and criminal matters, he said.He congratulated the Chief Justice and the Judges of High Court of Manipur and stated that they all have worked tirelessly with dedication to ensure that the rule of law prevails in the State of Manipur.
The Governor also laid the foundation stone for construction of District and Session Court, Churachandpur and also announced the creation of new positions within the Chief Justice Secretariat of the High Court.
Union Minister of State, Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal said several key projects of the Judiciary have been inaugurated and foundation stones of various new projects have been laid today.
It is a very good gesture that Supreme Court Judges have visited Manipur at one time and visited relief camps, both in hills and valley, he said.
He said that initiative for the peace process needs to be sped up and Manipur proceeds toward development and takes its role in making a developed India (Viksit Bharat) .
He also said that Manipur High Court had created a milestone related to the virtual hearing of the Court proceeding and Manipur had done an excellent job in the e-Court project 1 and 2 .
He assured that the Government of India will provide all possible assistance to the High Court of Manipur for the e- Court project 3 .
He stated he has already started looking into the demands which were placed before him by the representatives of AMBA, HCBA and Bar Council of Manipur.
Arjun Ram Meghwal laid the foundation stone of Manipur Judicial Academy guest house, inaugurated the Chief Justice's Secretariat war room and launched the e-office software for district Courts.
Justice N Kotiswar Singh inaugurated "Accessible Facilities" within the premises of the High Court of Manipur, conferencing equipment at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, and Manipur Central Jail, Imphal, RIMS and JNIMS hospitals, district hospitals of Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Ukhrul and Senapati.
Justice KV Viswanathan launched free campus Wi-Fi for the High Court and district Courts, new website of the High Court of Manipur and AI-assisted legal translation software titled "HC-AWAS" .
Justice MM Sundresh, laid the foundation stone of Manipur Judicial Academy guest house.
Justice Vikram Nath laid the foundation stone of High Court staff quarters, inaugurated district Court building, Kakching and launched mobile e-sewa Kendra bus.
Justice BR Gavai laid the foundation stone of Judicial Officers' residential quarters, inaugurated the Chief Justice's bungalow and the Chief Justice's Secretariat during the function.
