CM advocates dialogue to resolve issues

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has appealed to one and all to choose dialogue and discussion to resolve any issue.
While addressing an inauguration function of three bridges namely; Akham Bridge, Salam Bridge and Maklang Bridge under Lamsang Assembly Constituency in Imphal West district, the Chief Minister stated that any resentment can be resolved through discussion and dialogue.
Even if people have resentment against the Government, they should not resort to bandhs, blockades or shutdowns as it only hits hard daily wage earners and labourers, he said.
Khemchand said that he has been given the responsibility to build trust among various communities residing in the State.

He said tha his task now is to ensure the people of different communities travel freely in each other's areas.
At Akham village, he narrated his recent visit to Jiribam district.
Khemchand said that he visited Jiribam district twice, first by helicopter and second by road, and every community of the district such as Hmar, Kuki, Paite and Meitei sat together and agreed to work towards bringing peace.
These communities are living in harmony and they are returning to their homes in their respective villages.
These villages inhabited by Hmar or Kuki shared neighbourhoods with Meitei villages, he added.
The Chief Minister further narrated that just after returning from Jiribam, a bomb blast occurred at Tronglaobi village in Bish-nupur district killing two innocent kids the next day.
It was an unfortunate incident not only for Manipur and India, but for the entire world, he added.
Replying to a memorandum submitted by the local club of Akham village regarding construction of a community hall, a dam and a water supply scheme, the Chief Minister assured the members of the local club that a new community hall will be constructed soon in the village in consultation with the local MLA.
He also assured to construct a dam in the area soon and added that the concerned engineers of the Minor Irrigation Department have already visited the site to check the feasibility.
At Maklang, Khemchand informed that the development of road from Patsoi Lamkhai to Manipur Olympian Park, Sangaithel would be taken up soon and completed before the next Assembly election.
Regarding a proposal for the construction of a market shed for women vendors at Maklang, he informed that a detailed project report (DPR) for the same is being prepared and it would be sanctioned once the DPR is submitted.
He assured to look into the demand for establishing a Primary Health Centre in the area.
The Chief Minister continued that no place in the world, except Manipur, has a market exclusively run by women, praising the women vendors for their courage and will power to run their families by just selling vegetables and traditional garments in the Ema Market.
Responding to another memorandum submitted by the villagers of Maklang, the Chief Minister informed that he will look into the proposal such as repairing the Public Health Centre and others.
The RCC bridge over Nambul River at Akham Mayai Leikai was constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore under State Scheme while the pucca bridge over Maklang River cost around Rs 2 crore and it was constructed under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) Scheme.
The pucca bridge over Merakhong stream at Salam Mamang Leikai was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.2 crore.
The inauguration of the bridges was also attended by S Rajen Singh, Lamsang AC MLA, Kh Ibomcha Singh, Lamlai AC MLA, Chief Engineer (PWD) Chong-tham Bishwachandra Singh, officials of various departments, villagers of Akham and Maklang, among others.
