Abduction of 6 Naga men : ANSAM flags white lies of KIM

Imphal, May 21 2026:
Striking a firm stand, the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has asserted that Kuki Inpi Manipur's (KIM) denial of the abduction of Naga men by Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact amounts to a blatant challenge and insult to the Naga people.
A press release issued by ANSAM expressed its strongest outrage over the disappearance of the six Naga men who were among the 18 Nagas including a 2 year old 'abducted by Kuki militants' on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village.

The statement issued by KIM claiming that they have "no information" regarding the six missing Naga men is nothing short of an open challenge and insult to the Naga people, it said.
ANSAM added that the civilians who were abducted together and later released are living witnesses to the fact that the six Naga men were separated and ordered to be taken elsewhere by the abductors.
Therefore, any denial of knowledge is nothing but a deliberate deception, it said .
ANSAM demanded that the six abducted Naga men be produced immediately - dead or alive.
Their bodies must be released at any cost so that justice and dignity may prevail.
Saying that continued silence on their fate will only intensify public anger and suspicion, ANSAM further stated that the chief of Leilon village Lalboi Vaiphei and the villagers under whose vigilance the abduction took place, cannot evade accountability in this grave matter.
Likewise, Thangboi Kipgen, chairman of UPF (KNF-P) under SoO pact, whose militant group operates under his command structure is equally accountable for ensuring the safe release of the abducted persons, it added.
ANSAM further stated that Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, given her direct connection through her husband's leadership role, must ensure accountability and prompt action for the safe release of the abducted men.
The Naga student body also urged Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand and Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam to look into the matter with utmost seriousness.
The State Government must act responsibly to ensure justice, restore public confidence, and prevent further deterioration of the situation, it advised.
It is deeply disturbing that the Leimakhong Army Camp, one of the largest in the North East and located near the site of the abduction, failed to prevent or respond effectively to such a serious incident, ANSAM charged, adding that this raises grave suspicions and reinforces the growing perception of neglect and step motherly treatment of the Nagas by the Indian security establishment.
The very purpose of their deployment is questionable if innocent civilians can be abducted and disappear without accountability, ANSAM said.
Warning against the spread of false propaganda and fabricated narratives by certain Kuki groups and organisations 'which only escalate tensions and push the situation toward further instability and conflict', ANSAM asserted that truth cannot be buried beneath orchestrated misinformation.
It therefore called upon the Ministry of Home Affairs to give the matter immediate and focused attention.
ANSAM warned that continued ignorance, silence, or failure to act decisively would constitute a complete dereliction of Constitutional, moral, and humanitarian responsibilities toward the affected people, adding that truth and justice must ultimately prevail.
