RS MP, Biren back after two rounds of meeting

Former Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba returned to Imphal at 1.10 pm today on an Indigo flight after holding two rounds of meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.
They had been summoned by Amit Shah to discuss the crisis in Manipur and had travelled to the National capital on June 9 .
Upon arrival at the airport, N Biren Singh told the media that Amit Shah expressed his seriousness in addressing the Manipur crisis and reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to keep the State's territorial integrity intact.
He said that the meeting with Amit Shah was held in two sessions: the first from 11 pm to 12.30 pm on June 9, and the second from 3.15 pm to 4.30 pm on June 10 .
N Biren Singh said that he and the MP briefed the Union Home Minister in detail about the situation in Manipur, including the 10-day bandh called by Arambai Tenggol, the challenges in resettling internally displaced people and the inability to reopen the National Highways.
He also said that Amit Shah showed serious concern about the Manipur situation, discussing each issue at length, and informed them about various measures being taken up by the Centre to resolve the crisis, including meetings with leaders of different communities.
Stating that the Centre is still working towards bringing lasting normalcy to Manipur, the former Chief Minister added that the issue, however, is complex with various actions and statements being perceived along community lines.
N Biren quoted the Union Home Minister as saying that the Central Government is committed to maintaining Manipur's territorial integrity and safeguarding the interests of the indigenous communities.
Amit Shah appealed to the people of Manipur to maintain peace, according to the former Chief Minister.
He said that Amit Shah entrusted them with some groundwork, but details couldn't be disclosed yet.
Calling for a collective effort from legislators, civil society organizations, women's groups, local clubs, and student organizations to gradually resolve the Manipur crisis, he noted that the Central Government has already initiated steps to restore normalcy.
He also appealed for peaceful protests, assuring that the Centre's stance on maintaining Manipur's territorial integrity is firm.
Amit Shah also expressed the Centre's keenness to restore an elected Government in Manipur, where President's Rule has been in place since February 13 after discussing the situation, he said.
N Biren added that he handed over a memorandum to Amit Shah about the problem of illegal immigrants, a copy of which had earlier been submitted to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
