Class X results declared, pass percentage of 88.74 logged

Imphal, May 08 2026:
The Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) declared the Class 10 examination results today, recording an overall pass percentage of 88.74 per cent.
A total of 36,579 students appeared for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination which was held from February 23 to March 23, 2026, of whom 32,459 passed.
The results of three students have been withheld.
The results were declared today at around 3 pm at Babupara during a function graced by Education (S) Commissioner Ningthoujam Geoffrey as chief guest, Director Ng Bhogendra as president, and BOSEM Secretary S Jitelal Sharma and Controller of Examinations Ayam Thoi as guests of honour.

This year's pass percentage, is lower than that of the past two years, which were 93.03 pc in 2024 and 91.37 pc in 2025 .
Of the students who passed, 16,206 were female (88.74 pass percentage) and 16,253 were male (88.90 pass percentage) .
A total of 390 internally displaced students also appeared for the examination, of whom 327 passed, recording a pass percentage of 83.85 pc.
As usual, private schools recorded the highest pass percentage at 92.34 pc, followed by aided schools at 84.15 pc, and Government schools at 77.63 pc.
From Government schools, 8,126 students appeared for the examination of whom 6,308 passed, while 1,483 students from aided schools appeared, with 1,248 passing.
From private schools, 24,903 students cleared the examination out of 26,970 students who appeared.
Among social categories, Other Backward Classes (OBC) recorded the highest pass percentage at 91.38 pc (13,016 students passed), followed by Scheduled Castes (SC) at 90.85 pc (1,985 students passed), General category at 88.50 pc (6,478 students passed), and Scheduled Tribes (ST) at 85.58 pc (10,980 students passed).
District wise, Chandel recorded the highest pass percentage (97.38 pc) while Jiribam recorded the lowest (74.59 pc) .
The pass percentage of other districts are Thoubal (96.30 pc), Imphal West (88.64 pc), Imphal East (88.59), Bishnupur (90.98 pc), Ukhrul (84.43 pc), Churachandpur (83.13 pc), Senapati (80.18 pc), Tamenglong (84.83 pc), Kakching (91.51 pc), Kamjong (83.57 pc), Pherzawl (86.36 pc), Kangpokpi (82.44 pc), Noney (95.42) and Tengnoupal (90.69 pc) .
Speaking at the function held at Babupara, Geoffrey said that HSLC examination results have been provided using the mark grading system since 2024, in line with the National Education Policy, to identify students' talents and nurture them into responsible citizens.
He further said that the State Cabinet has also taken a resolution to introduce the grading system for Class XII examination too.
Geoffrey added that numerical marking often causes stress among students and parents over marginal differences in scores, whereas the grading system helps minimise unhealthy competition and the craze for marks.
Clearing the Class X examination is only the beginning, he said and appealed to students to remember that many more examinations await them.
Ng Bhogendra, on the other hand, stated that BOSEM is working to release HSLC examination results slightly earlier from next year onwards, similar to CBSE .
