Imphal, October 05: In two separate incidents, three persons have been shot dead in different places today.

At about 8.30 am, one Salam Sarkar (40) s/o late Rajbabu of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai was shot dead by some unidentified persons at his own home.

According to information received by press, three unidentified youths came and asked for Sarkar this morning.

As his younger sister informed Sarkar about the coming of the strangers, he came out and met with the unidentified youths.

The unidentified youths insisted that they should talk inside the house.

As such they came into the house with Sarkar in front.

As soon as they entered the room, one of the youths drew a gun and shot at Sarkar. Sarkar was hit on left chest and left shoulder.

He died on the spot.

According to family members, Sarkar was a married man having a son and was doing petty contract works. After shooting Sarkar, the three assailants including a limping one escaped riding a Kinetic Honda parked at the gate of Dr Bilashini's residence.

Even as post mortem examination has been completed at RIMS morgue, the corpse is still lying there as the family of the deceased is waiting for some family members staying outside the State.

In another incident, two suspected PULF cadres were shot dead by some unidentified persons near a Lai Haraoba ground, about 5 kms North East of Wangoi police station along Iram Siphai road around midnight yesterday.

The two deceased are identified as Md Nawaj alias Wangba (27) of Thoubal Moijing, staying at present at Borayangbi and Md Atau Rehman alias Apikpa (17) of Sora Mamang Leikai.

According to family members, Md Nawaj was a member of the PULF Farooq group but Atao Rehman was student pursuing Moulavi course in a Madrassa located in Lilong.

Atao had been missing since 2/3 days back.

Both the corpses have been handed over to respective families after post mortem at RIMS today.

JAC constituted: Meanwhile with the constitution of a Joint Action Committee in connection with the killing of Salam Sarkar today, all concerned have been urged to clarify on the cold blooded murder by October 9.The JAC has also decided not to claim the corpse of Sarkar until and unless the murderers come out with a definite explanation for the killing.

Moreover, the JAC will launch several modes of agitation if the State Government does not book the culprits at the earliest, said the JAC convenor Athokpam Sakhi.

She conveyed deep concerned about the random killings without giving any reason whatsoever which has become a daily affair in the State.

"As far as we know, Sarkar had no enmity or misunderstanding with any individual or group.

He was a humble person doing petty contract works", the JAC members said.

Even if he had wronged, his family could have corrected him had the killers informed the family about his wrongdoings, they maintained.

But it was brutal and barbarous to the extreme to kill any unarmed individual at his own house right in front of his family members, the JAC decried.
