All rivers below warning level; rescue efforts on

Imphal, June 04 2025:
All the rivers which breached their banks during the past few days are now flowing below the warning level.
However, rescue operations are still underway in many of flooded areas.
According to a report released by the Flood Control Room of the Water Resources Department, at 6pm Wednesday, Imphal River was recorded flowing below the warning level at 785.250 metres above mean sea level, which further dropped to 784.800 metres at 6 pm .
At the same time, the flow of Nambul River was recorded slightly above the warning level at 781.325 metres whereas Nambol River was found flowing at the flood level mark at 773.700 metres compared to 773.850 metres recorded at 6am .

Thoubal River is also flowing below the warning level at 779.975 metres, Manipur River at 768.030 metres and Iril River at 783.675 metres.
The report further informed that four out of five gates each of Ithai Barrage and Imphal Barrage are still open while the Shamushang Regulator has been shut.
Gate no 3 of Thoubal Barrage has been opened at 0.20 metres while the other gates continue to remain closed.
Although the water levels have gone down, some flooded areas continue to be inundated.
In Heingang Mayai Leikai, the flood waters began receding on Wednesday.
However, Heingang Pat remains flooded.
In Khurai, while the flood waters have receded in some areas, Top Khongnangmakhong, Kongpal, Ayangpalli, Porompat, Kongba and Kongba Irong are still inundated.
On the other hand, as per the daily report released by the Directorate of Relief and Disaster Management, at least one person was killed and four others were injured in the recent floods, while 74 animals died.
A total of 705 houses were inundated, while 35,342 suffered damages, affecting around 1,56,787 people.

4097 people were rescued and nearly 78 relief camps have been opened, with five medical relief camps offering much needed medical assistance.
The floods left 62 infrastructures damaged, while a total of 147 landslides occurred at different areas of the state and national highways.
Around 115 hectares of farmland were also affected.
Teams of NDRF, military, SDRF, state police and fire services continue to rescue and extend help to the affected victims, the report conveyed.
On the other hand, a press release by Manipur Fire Service Control Room informed that the department is continuing to extend help to flood affected victims.
A team of Fire Service helped transfer a kidney patient from Kongba Khunou to Babina Cancer Hospital and a BP stroke patient, currently staying at NSK flood relief camp in Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, to RIMS Hospital.
Under the state government's initiative, Fire Service utilised four water bowsers and one mini-water bowser to dis-tribute potable water to relief camps and flood affected areas in Kongba, Wangkhei, Nongmeibung, Porompat, Kongpal and Kongba Irong.
The Department appealed to all concerned to contact the Fire Service if in need of water or rescue.
Around 8.33 pm on Tuesday, a fire broke out at Khurai Khomidok.
However, timely action by Manipur Fire Service, Imphal and Lamlai Fire Sub Station prevented any exten-sive damage, the press release conveyed.
NDRF also launched rescued operations in Wangkhei, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Kongba Kshetri Leikai areas and brought off the affected victims to safe locations.
On Wednesday, the commissioner of Water Resources Department led the SDRF in draining away the flood waters from JNIMS complex, and areas of Kongpal and Porompat.
