Imphal, May 03 2026:
The public convention held today under the banner "Three Years of Manipur Crisis" has resolved to carry on different modes of democratic agitation until the Government of India and the Government of Manipur fulfil the resolutions/demands adopted earlier by the people of Manipur and the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
The public convention held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen was organised by COCOMI and it was moderated by retired Head of Department, Political Science, Imphal College, AK Sethajit while COCOMI convenor YK Dhiren attended the convention as chairman.

The convention was attended by members of different communities and leaders of several organisations and the gathering observed a two-minute silence in honour of the people killed in the three-year-old violence.
The public convention reaffirmed the resolutions adopted by the people and COCOMI since May 3, 2023 and decided to carry on different modes of democratic agitation until the Government of India and the State Government take up concrete actions regarding the resolutions.
Vehemently condemning the acts of terrorism committed at Tronglaobi and TM Kasom, the convention resolved to exert strong pressure on the Government so that all the perpetrators of Tronglaobi and TM Kasom terror attacks are booked, prosecuted and awarded exemplary punishment at the earliest, and a judicial enquiry is instituted into the killing of three civilians by CRPF jawans at Tronglaobi.
The third resolution says that the ongoing agitation will be intensified in a democratic manner against the alleged Government of India's relentless attack on civilians through Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
Maintaining that the answers given by the Government to the seven questions put before it by the COCOMI along with the people on April 25, 2026 were not satisfactory, the convention resolved to adopt the seven questions in the form of demands.
The seven questions which the public convention agreed to articulate in the form of demands are - the Government of Manipur must boldly asked the Government of India to stop its proxy war against the indigenous people of Manipur; eliminate Kuki narco-terror-ism from the soil of Manipur; arrest perpetrators of Tronglaobi and TM Kasom terror attacks, and deliver justice; institute judicial enquiry into the killing of three civilians by CRPF at Tronglaobi and take action against guilty CRPF personnel; Manipur Government must see that SoO agreement is abrogated; Government must initiate concrete steps to deport all illegal immigrants after updating the NRC.
The fifth resolution says that a people's delegation comprising COCOMI representatives, intellectuals, community leaders and representatives of IDPs may hold talks with the Chief Minister and Central leaders, if necessary, to ameliorate the people's suffering.
Noting that narco-terrorists have been committing all kinds of atrocities in different parts of the world and they have been interfering in the politics of many countries by putting up their own agents in elections with the help of narco-money, the public convention further resolved to urge the United Nations and relevant organisations to declare May 3 as International Anti-Narco-Terrorism Day.
It further resolved to highlight how the Government of India has been standing on the side of narco-terrorists and thus aiding the narco-terrorists to commit all kinds of atrocities upon innocent civilians in Manipur for the last three years.
Meanwhile, a sit-in-protest was held today at Changangei, opposite to the entrance gate of Imphal airport demanding an immediate termination of the three-year-old proxy war.
The protest was jointly organised by several Meira Paibi Lups of Changangei area on the third anniversary of the May 3, 2023 aggression which marked the beginning of the proxy war.
The protesters used placards which read as "Stop killing innocent people", "We want justice", "Ensure free movement" etc.
Speaking to the media, Meira Paibi activist Ayekpam Ibempishak said that the violence which erupted on May 3, 2023 is more disastrous and terrible than the Seven Years Devastation of the 19th century.
She said that the violence could have been put to an end much earlier had the Government of India and the State Government been determined to stop it.
With the Government showing little commitment to resolve the crisis, the violence has only escalated, Ibempishak said.
She urged the Government of India and the Government of India to pay due attention and work sincerely to bring an end to the violence.
