Imphal, September 01 2021: After signing off the last day of August (31st) with 382 new cases, one death and a daily positivity rate of 8.8 percent, the lowest in the last month, Manipur stepped into September with 270 new cases, two deaths and a daily positivity rate of 8.2 percent.

The 270 new cases include 4 Central security personnel and take the total number of infected cases in the State to 1,14,203 including 4121 Central security personnel.

The 270 positive cases were detected during testing conducted at RIMS (5), JNIMS (44) and other testing centres (221) .

The State also reported two deaths in the last 24 hours and the two deceased persons hailed from Imphal West.

None of the two deceased had been vaccinated.

The cumulative number of deaths is 1784 .

The 266 civilians who tested positive in the last 24 hours are from Imphal East (33), Imphal West (109), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (7), Ukhrul (24), Churachandpur (20), Chandel (12), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (25), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (1), Noney (1) and Kangpokpi (4) .

Necessary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement today.

For the first time and in line with a suggestion made by The Sangai Express some time back, the IDSP has furnished the number of tests conducted in each of the district as well as the daily positivity rate.

Though Chandel reported only 12 new cases in the last 24 hours, the daily positivity rate there was the highest at 19.7 percent.

Out of 61 samples tested, 12 returned positive cases.

Next is Tamenglong with 18.7 percent wherein 25 returned positive results out of a total of 134 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Ukhrul with 13 percent rounds off the first three spot with 24 persons returning positive results out of 185 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

At Pherzawl only 16 samples were tested but none returned positive results.

So too did Kamjong where only 10 samples were tested with no positive result.

Jiribam returned the lowest daily test positivity rate at 2.6 percent with 1 returning positive result out of 38 samples tested.

Senapati and Thoubal too were on the lower side of the daily positivity rate with 3 percent each.

Senapati tested 266 samples and 8 returned positive results while in Thoubal 167 samples were tested and 5 had positive results.

On the other hand 277 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (105), RIMS (11), JNIMS (11), CCCs (97) and CHICs (53) .

The cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,09,031 including 4,092 Central security personnel.

The recovery rate is now 95.47 percent.

The number of active cases is 3,388 including 24 Central security personnel.

On August 31, 7320 people were vaccinated taking the total number of people who have received their vaccination jabs to 15,31,728 including 3,43,447 persons who have received their second dose.

In the last 24 hours a total of 1366 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 344 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres.

The number of Covid beds as enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room is RIMS (General beds-150, ICU-16), JNIMS (General beds-33, ICU-2), Iland Hospital, free of cost (General beds-14), MSF, Little Flower School, free of cost (General beds-5, ICU-7), CMC Koirengei (General beds-28, ICU-4), Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (General beds-24, ICU-3), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-15, ICU-6), Shija Hospital (General beds-46, ICU- 29), Raj Medicity (General beds-66, ICU-18) .
