Imphal, December 18: Three suspected activists of the proscribed KNF (P) were killed during an encounter with armed cadres of KLO/KLA at Zoulen village under Saikul Police Station in the wee hours of today.

According to a spokesperson of KLO/KLA, exchange of firing broke out as suspected KNF (P) cadres entered Zoulen village which is within the operational area of KLA to collect money and paddy from the villagers.

The action of the suspected KNF (P) cadres and their entry to the village was in violation of the Suspension of Operation signed with the Union Ministry of Home, Government of India, the spokesperson said, adding that one of the suspected KNF (P) cadres was killed at the spot while the other two along the road and round five of them been believed to have been wounded.

It is said that Zoulen village is located near Chanung which is under Lamlai Police Station and there are around 50 armed cadres of KLA in the area.
