Imphal, November 17: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a youth at Kongba Ucheckon under Irilbung Police Station at around 7.30 pm yesterday.

The corpse whose identity is yet to be established has been picked up by the police and kept at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.

According to police, the slain youth has wheatish complexion with strong physique and ears not pierced.

There were two amulets tied on his waist.

A bullet that was shot from left side of his temple exited through the back side.

The body was found clad in a grey-coloured jersey with strips on the chest with a black coloured vest underneath and a red-colour track suit with Adidas printed on it.

Meanwhile, out of two persons, a man and a woman, who were shot at by unidentified gunmen while coming out from participating a seminar organised by AMADA at Lilong Bazar today, the man succumbed to the bullet injuries.

The slain man has been identified as Md Hanif Shah (27) s/o Jamanuddin of Irong.

Hanif is said to be president of All Manipur Muslim Students� Organisation.

He suffered fatal bullet injuries on his left chest and thigh.

He was brought to Shija Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to the bullet injuries.

The woman who suffered bullet injuries has been identified as Anwar Noorjahan alias Mema (42) of Khangabok.

She was hit by a bullet on the left thigh and is presently undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.

Anwar Noorjahan is the president of United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation.

Both of them were coming out after attending the seminar organised by AMADA at Lilong Bazar when the unidentified gunmen fired at them.

The subject of the seminar was on the role of Manipuri Muslims in fighting menace of drugs in Manipuri society.
