Imphal, February 07: A former cadre of the proscribed UNLF was shot dead by some unidentified persons at Lamlai Makha Leikai Phura Makhong, about 2 kms South of Lamlai police station at about 9 last night.

The deceased is identified as Yengkhom Sanjit alias Boby alias Moramba (30) s/o Y Dhana of Kharasom Awang Leikai.

Being a cadre of the UNLF earlier, he had been arrested and was out on bail.

He was a married man having a three year old daughter.

He went out with one of his friend named Nanaocha belonging to the same locality on a motor cycle to meet a girl from Wangjing last morning, informed family members.

After returning from Wangjing, Sanjit was abducted by about five unidentified persons who came in a jeep from Khurai Konsam Leirak at around 4 pm.

He was found hit by a bullet on the head.

With the registration of a case in Lamlai police station in connection with the killing, the corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.

On the other hand, the Lamlai Development Committee has appealed to all concerned not to dispose corpses in and around Lamlai village.
