Imphal, April 05: A meeting of the engineers of the five engineering Departments held today at the conference hall of the PWD has resolved to continue with the ongoing cease work strike.

The cease work strike was launched in the aftermath of the killing of PWD AE K Nabachandra by KCP (City Meitei).

Subsequent upon the resolution, the meeting scheduled today with the State Government to bring an end to the cease work strike was also cancelled.

Yet, the points discussed in today's meeting have been intimated to the State Government.

The meeting was attended by engineers of the five engineering Departments holding the ranks of AE and above.

However, Chief Engineers of IFCD and PHED could not attend the meeting as they are currently out of station.

During the meeting, most of the engineers voiced their strong reservation against suspending the ongoing stir before the Government takes up adequate security measures for the engineers with a sympathetic understanding of the threats being perceived by them.

However, some Chief Engineers highlighting the possible impacts of the cease work strike on development projects, expressed their desire to return to normal duties in the interest of the State.

Nevertheless, the PWD Chief Engineer, while interacting with The Sangai Express, informed that a joint meeting of the five engineering Departments will be held shortly to look into any possible way out from the present predicament without compromising the interests of the engineers as well as of the State.
