Imphal, January 09: The Assistant Inspector of Zonal Education Office Wangoi was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at the gate of his own residence at Wangoi Wahengbam Leikai at around 6.45 pm today.

According to reports, two unidentified gunmen who came in an NV scooter opened fire at AI Wangkheimayum Sanatomba (45) son of W Amu of Wangoi Wahengbam Leikai on his chest.

The victim was immediately rushed to Shija Hospital in a critical condition.

But he passed away en-route.

The body has been deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination.
