CCpur mob snatches men arrested with pistol

Imphal, January 25 2024: A mob snatched two men, who had been arrested by security forces for possession of a 9mm pistol during a checking-frisking operation conducted near Torbung Bangla BSF post, en route to Churachandpur Police Station on Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, security forces halted a Mahindra Scorpio (MN 01K 9493) coming from Churachandpur towards S Kawtlian, at Torbung Bangla BSF post around 9am Wednesday.

On checking the car, the security forces arrested James Haokip (40) s/o Mgulkholet Haokip of New Keithelmanbi and Seiminlen Doungel s/o Helthong of Tuibong, Churachandpur with a 9mm pistol.

The forces then handed the duo along with the seized weapon and vehicle to Churachandpur district police for further legal action.

However, when the police were transporting them to Churachandpur PS, a huge crowd of women were found blocking the road.

The women then snatched the two people from the clutches of the police but did not grab the pistol.

Churachandpur police station has registered a case in this regard.
