Manipur Veteran Cricket : CHAMP, NAPSA post second wins

CHAMP, Khagempalli and NAPSA, Kha Imphal extended their winning ways at the ongoing XVI Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association.
CHAMP secured the second win in the tournament beating DSU, Kwakeithel by 25 runs at Luwangpokpa Public Stadium, in a Group B league match while NAPSA romped to a 8-wicket win over Model Club, Chingamakha at Langthabal Public Ground in another Group B fixture.
In the match played at Luwangsangbam, CHAMP posted a huge target of 205 runs for DSU at the cost of 4 wickets in 30 overs after winning the toss.
Ibobi shone in this innings scoring the highest 81 runs off 71 balls and was latter adjudged man of the match.
Robinson and Rajiv also played a crucial role in this innings as they struck 40 and 26 runs each and helped CHAMP set a huge target.
DSU's Amarjit led the bowling attack picking up two wickets in this innings while Bishorjit and Jiten were able to claim one wicket each.
DSU's Gyaneshor (73) and Amarjit (66) put up a brave show in reply but their efforts went in vain as they were held to a meagre 179 for 4 in 30 overs as CHAMP bowlers maintained the perfect economy despite their failure in taking wickets.
Premananda, Jodiba and Thomthang of CHAMP however got their names on the scoresheet taking one wicket each.
In another match that was held at Langthabal Public Ground, NAPSA rode on Brojen and Himmat Singh to thrash Model Club by 8 wickets.
Model Club which won the toss and opted to bat first were forced to end the first innings at 23.5 overs losing all the wickets with the score of 121 runs as Himat of NAPSA wreaked havoc across the batting line up dismissing four in 6 overs he bowled.
Sunil (20), Denail (23), Tomba (25) and Priyobarta (17) were the leading run scorer for Model Club in this innings before NAPSA chased down the target in 23.4 overs with 8 wickets left in the hand.
Brojen played vital role for NAPSA in batting as he scored 46 runs not out while Keshorjit and Somendra added 36 and 12 runs each to help their team cruise to a huge win.
The two wickets of NAPSA was taken by Ashni of Model Club.
A Himat who claimed 4 wickets was named man of the match.
CHAMP will play NAPSA in the next match on December 18 at Langthabal while DSU will face Model Club at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
