Custom & Cultural Academy of Maring opened

The Maringa Custom & Cultural Academy was opened yesterday at Khunbi Village under Machi Sub-Division in Tengnoupal District for Maring community to promote the culture and tradition of Maring.
The inaugural function was attended by President MU A Ch Modun as Chief Guest and hoisted the inaugural flag of the MCAY.
Pioneer in the field of Maring Culture, Principal MCAY Ch Joseph Maring, who has written and rewritten numerous books based on songs of Maring Culture and other medieval books, said that the academy was opened to foster and nurture the age-old custom and culture of Maring community.
Stating that the western culture has influenced the maring culture in a big way, he appreciated the support, cooperation and valuable advice of many elders who have helped to open the Academy to safeguard the custom and culture of Maring.
Many Maring elders performed traditional dances and songs in the opening function while the women folks also presented various cultural programme.
A Calender of Maring culture was released by President MUA during the inaugural function.
The inaugural function was attended by W Korung Makunga, who have taken major role to promote the culture of Maring community, Rv Nk Wungnaoshang Pastor Khunbi B/C MNBA, T Moshil, Ch Leithikham and elders of Khunbi village.
