KIYG: Triple delight for Manipur as Bishal, Linthoi, Matouleibi win gold medals in judo

Manipur's tryst with medals in the judo competition of 4th Khelo India Youth Games on Saturday gained an extra fillip as K Bishal Singh, Ch Linthoi and Huidrom Matouleibi Devi won gold medals in their respective categories.
K Bishal beat Haryana's Garvit in their gold medal duel in the U-18 boys' -66kg category while Tanish of Delhi and Akash of Rajasthan both took bronze medals.
Ch Linthoi secured the top podium honour in the U-18 girls' -57kg contest after defeating Shahin of Gujarat in their final match as Nikita of Delhi and Shaan of Haryana shared the third place.
Huidrom Matouleibi, on the other hand, bested Tanishtha of Delhi in the U-18 girls' -52kg summit clash to seal her yellow metal.
Makawana of Gujarat and Ashu Devi Haryana both bagged bronze medals.
Earlier on Friday, Ningthoujam Rohit Singh and Mutum Roshibina Devi won bronze medals on the first day of the Judo event.
Rohit took his bronze medal in the U-18 boys' -50kg event while Mutum Roshibina finished third in the U-18 girls' -44kg contest for her bronze.
Following the Saturday's results, Manipur have now amassed 23 medals including 16 gold, three silver and four bronze.
The state, however, slipped to fourth place in medal tally after the eighth day of 4th Khelo India Youth Games.
Karnataka leapfrogged Manipur to third spot with 21 gold, 13 silver and 18 bronze medals.
On Saturday, Maharashtra overtook Haryana atop the medal table after collecting 37 gold, 34 silver and 29 bronze medals while the hosts dropped to second place with 36 gold, 33 silver and 39 bronze medals.
