State trio gets selection for Asian Pencak Silat C'ship

Imphal, November 23 2019:
Three Pencak Silat players from Manipur have been named to represent India at the 5th Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2019 to be held in Yanji China from December 26 to 30 .

The players from Manipur who have been selected by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation and called up to join 10 days training and coaching camp ahead of the Asian event are, Naorem Boynao Singh, Huidrom Bishan and Thounaojam Johnson.
As per a statement of Manipur Pencak Silat Association, Boynao, who is a resident of Kakching will take part in Tending event while Bishan and Johnson will take part in Seni Ganda event.
Boynao is the son of late Naorem Krishnamohan Singh and Naorem Ongbi Bimola Devi of Kakching Phousupat Leikai.
Huidrom Bishan, gold medallist at the 4th Asian Pencak Silat Championship held in India last year and bronze medallist at the 18th World Pencak Silat Championship is the son of Huidrom Robin and Huidrom Ongbi Sakuntala of Huidrom Mayai Leikai.
On the other hand, Johnson is the son of Thounaojam Nandakishor and Thounaojam Ongbi Ibemma of Keibu Kumuda Makha Leikai.
The trio will leave Imphal on December 9 for the National camp which will be held from December 10 to 20, the statement continued.
