Imphal, November 23 2019:
Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has strongly condemned the bomb blast which took place at the campus of Thangmeiband Improvement Club, Lilashing Khongnangkhong yesterday, demanding the authorities to nab the culprits at the earliest.
The body also announced support of the boycott on Manipur Sangai Festival, appealing the people of the areas covered by TUC to refrain from participating in the festival.
Speaking to media persons at Naharol Leishemba Club, Sinam Leikai today, TUC president Pratap Leishangthem strongly condemned the bomb blast which occurred at around 6 pm yesterday.
He then said that many CRPF personnel were stationed near the site recently and alleged that it is not whether the explosion was either a mistake on part of the security personnel or was deliberately carried out by antisocial elements.
This requires immediate investigation and action by the authorities concerned, he demanded.
He then said that if locals and club members had been at the campus during the time of the explosion, then the casualty could have been much higher, and demanded the Government to transfer away all the CRPF and security personnel from Thangmeiband area in the interest of public safety.
On the other hand, he appealed to the people residing in the areas covered by TUC to refrain from participating in the festival.
It is extremely unreasonable to get lost in festivities at such a serious juncture.
TUC will offer full cooperation to COCOMI, he said.
