AMOFA, Moirang preserved its lead in the ongoing 1st Manipur State League football tournament despite suffering a 1-2 defeat to visitors YWC, Thambalkhong at Moirang Multi-Purpose Higher Secondary School ground today as closest opponent TRAU, Tiddim Road was thrashed 4-1 by ESU, Wangkhei at the latter's home ground.
The loss meant AMOFA is stuck at 50 points three more than TRAU.
In other second leg matches played today, KFC, Kakching outplayed SAI RC 7-1 at Takyel, MPSC edged past SSU, Singjamei by a solitary goal at MU ground which served as home turf for the Singjamei side, while NEROCA, Shangakpham emerged 3-1 victory against PYC, Phoudel at Luwangshangbam home venue for the winners.
AMOFA lost the opportunity to increase its point tally as Th Joychandra's 30th minute opener for the home side was neutralised by YWC's Ng Santosh in the 49th minute before L Nabachandra sealed victory for the visitors 10 minutes later.
YWC had lost its home match 2-1.AMOFA's loss, however, made no difference to the team position at the top, as TRAU conceded four goals to ESU while managing to pull back one with a late goal from S Tuboy (87th).TRAU is on 47 points.
Th Prabinkumar (40th), S Subash (48th, 53rd) and N Prabin (90+) scored for the home side.
SAI's poor run in the tournament continued as KFC rained goals at regular intervals for an impressive 7-1 victory margin with Thangminlal Haokip netting three (13th, 70th, 81st), W Kulajit scoring two injury time goals as Kh Oken (24th) and TS Warkhamanal (83rd) chipped in with one apiece.
KFC had also crushed the same opponent 5-1 in the first leg tie.
At MU ground, Th Rohen scored the all important goal in the 40th minute in MPSC's solitary goal win against SSU to wrest their double leg clash on aggregate score of 4-0.NEROCA also kept its victory record against PYC intact through goals from Y Raju (35th), Manimohan (58th) and Ramesh (78th) at its home ground today.
Md Riyaz Khan reduced the loss margin with a 59th minute goal.
NEROCA won the first leg tie 2-0.
