Imphal, March 25:
Even as capital punishment was awarded to a drug addict by the proscribed RPF for snatching the ear-rings and subsequent murder of a child some time back, an unidentified person reportedly snatched the gold earrings from a six-year old boy at Patsoi yesterday.
According to reports received by the press, the gold ear-rings (above one San in value) worn by Akoijam Mahesh (6) s/o of Akoijam Ibotombi of Patsoi Part-III was snatched by the unidentified person at around 4.30 pm yesterday while the boy was playing cricket along with his friends in the playground located in front of the local club.
At the relevant time, a meeting was also in progress at one side of the playground in connection with arrest of an innocent person by the security forces.
The unidentified person lured away Mahesh with offer of buying sweatmeat and took him to a paddy field nearby and removed the ear rings with the help of a pair of scissors.
The unidentified person then fled from the scene soon after.
Mahesh is said to be student of class II in Pole Star English School, Patsoi.
His parents informed that the unidentified person had bruise marks on his left elbow, something like a scar on his nose and a tattoo in the shape of a flower on his arm.
