The newly appointed DGP in-charge and vice-president of Manipur Fencing Association Y Joykumar and life member of the Association MLA S Keba were felicitated during a function held at Leima Shopping Plaza, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion DGP in-charge Y Joykumar assured that modern fencing equipment worth Rs 56 lakhs would be made available to the fencers of the State with the help of the State Government.
He also exhorted the fencers to bring more laurels for Manipur in continental and world championships.
Responding to a query, Joykumar assured that State players of different disciplines employed in the Police Department would no longer face any problem of non-release by the Department when they are called for national coaching camps and trial selections.
Appealing to the people for cooperation, he pledged that he would remove the feeling of fear and apprehension felt by people when they see police men.
MLA Sapam Keba also pledged all possible help from his side to develop the sports of fencing in the State.
