Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency which is under the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, will be taking up the construction/repairing work of 81 roads at a total estimated cost of Rs 350 crores in Manipur during the financial year 2007-08.The proposed work programme is to be implemented during the 6th phase of Bharat Nirman, earlier known as Prime Minister Gramin Sarak Yojana (PMGSY).
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, Rural and Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allaudin Khan, who is presently at New Delhi informed that a detailed project report (DPR) is being prepared in this connection.
While mentioning that PMGSY will be known as Bharat Nirnam from the 6th phase of implementation of the scheme, the Minister said 99 percent of the road construction/repairing work under PMGSY in Manipur have been completed so far.
"It is to hold meeting with the officials of the Ministry concerned and to urge them for releasing the required fund for execution of the necessary works that I have been called to Delhi", the Minister disclosed.
Md Allauddin who is also in charge of the Science and Technology portfolio disclosed that a proposal is also being made to set up an IT park at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crores under Special Plan Assistance next to the Software Technology Park at Mantripukhri.
