Imphal, January 24 2017:
MEIRAA, Bashikhong and SEYO, Singjamei Wangma carved out convincing wins against their respective opponents in the ongoing Senior Men and Women Manipur Hockey League at the Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium today.
In the first match of the day, Th Tompok did the star turn for MEIRAA, Bashikhong, pumping in six goals on the trot against a hapless PHAM, Yaiskul.
From the first whistle of the match, MEIRAA went on the offensive and exposed the chinks in the armoury of PHAM as early as the 2nd minute of the match when Th Athouba sounded the board with a well placed shot.

The early goal did not lull the players of MEIRAA and they continued with their free and flowing style, repeatedly making inroads into the defence line of PHAM.
Off one such move, Th Thonglen managed to shrug off a couple of defenders and scored in the 21st minute to help his team take a comfortable 2-0 lead.
After the second goal, it was Th Tompok all the way as he repeatedly managed to break through the defence line of PHAM and scored six goals on the trot.
The six goal riot started in the 27th minute and Tompok followed this up with some clever moves and well directed shots to score in the 36th, 44th, 46th, 47th and 49th minute of the match to literally take the match away from PHAM.
So complete was the domination of MEIRAA that the PHAM players could not get their game going and not once did they make a threatening move.
On the other hand, MEIRAA continued to make inroads and this paved the way for another goal in the 54th minute when a well positioned N Rakesh unleashed a power packed shot to help MEIRAA register a convincing 9-0 win.
The second match of the day witnessed some entertaining play from SEYO, Singjamei Wangma and KHSC, Khongman.
KHSC took the field in a positive frame of mind and went on the offensive after the first whistle.
Following some quick moves, Kiran of KHSC managed to sound the board as early as the 1st minute of the match.
Stung by the early goal, SEYO played with a purpose and G Denku was at it when he found himself well placed to take a shot and equalise in the 3rd minute of the match.
The equaliser gave the needed boost to the players of SEYO and they played to a plan when N Premchand did the finishing work in the 11th minute to help SEYO take the lead.
KHSC on the other hand did not lose heart and started attacking down the flank and off one such move, Thoungamba found himself well placed to take a shot that beat the custodians of SEYO hands down in the 27th minute.
Tied at two goals each, SEYO then put more purpose in their game and started finding the cracks in the defence line of KHSC.
Ksh Wangamba rose to the occasion to find the mark in the 31st minute and help SEYO take the lead again.
Ksh Tenison followed in the 41st minute and G Denku in the 53rd minute to help SEYO register a 5-2 win.
