Imphal, January 24 2017:
Civil society associations based at Mayang Imphal have today warned to boycott politicians if the daily gun shots in Mayang Imphal Begun and surrounding areas do not stop immediately.
Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation, Popular Front of India, Bengoon Youth Development Association and Iamiatul Ulama, called a press conference at Manipur Press Club today.
Bengoon Youth Development Association president Md Irfan Khan expressed grave concern with the repeated gun shots heard in and around Mayang Imphal Bengoon.
"Even though no casualties had been caused by the gun shots, the incident has instilled fear among the residents of Bengoon and surrounding areas," he said.
Eye witness of such incidents stated that the miscreants come in four wheelers without registration number.
"Whether the shots were fired in connection with the Assembly election is not known", Irfan said while appealing to the organisation or individuals concerned as well as State authorities to bring an end to such senseless actions.
"CSOs of the area have decided not to support any politicians if such incidents are not checked immediately," he stated.
