MPSC held ESU, Wangkhei to a 2-2 draw today but could not prevent the latter from advancing into the last four stage of the 3rd S Ronika Memorial Invitation Junior Girls Football Tournament as the Wangkhei eves topped Group B with two wins and a draw in three matches.
NYThC, Okram Chuthek also sealed its berth in the semi final from the same group after a hard fought 3-2 victory over KRYPSA, Naoremthong at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the MPSC versus ESU tie, the police eves shot into the lead when Monhaochun Malun found the mark in the 54th minute which was neutralised by the rivals eight minutes later through M Mandakini.
While P Bijaya scored ESU's second in the 81st minute Ksh Naocha ensured MPSC finish the game with honours shared with an 82nd minute strike.
The result meant ESU finish its group outings on seven points and NYThC occupy the second spot with two wins and a loss.
NYThC won its final group tie against KRYPSA with three second half goals after Y Chandrajini (31st) and H Bijaya (67th) had triggered panicky situation in the NYThC bench.
Undeterred by the two goal disadvantage, the Okram chuthek girls showed steely determination to stay alive in the game when Y Kamala reduced the deficit in the 77th minute and T Nungshitombi restored parity in the 79th minute with her first of two goals in the match.
Her second came in the 81st minute.
