The State Government will be taking up measures to evict houses built in river banks and basins, said IFCD Minister Phungzathang Tonsing in response to a query raised by MLA Dr Ng Bijoy in the State Assembly today.
Even as the Manipur Flood Plains Joining Act 1978 has been enforced in-principle, its provisions cannot be fully implemented till date as a master plan is yet to be drafted, disclosed Phungzathang.
As for the illegal houses built in river banks and basins, the concerned Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to evict them, he said.
Responding to another query raised by MLA Morung Makunga, the Minister who is also in-charge of Tribal Development informed that the Account Officer of the Autonomous District Council who has been in service for three years continuously has been promoted and entrusted the charge of CEO under officiating capacity.
Moreover, there are cases of MCS officers entrusted with the charge of CEO under a Government notification, clarified Phungzathang.
Altogether there are 857 schools under Autonomous District Councils, informed Phungzathang in response to a question raised by MLA Awangbow Newmai.
These schools have varied number of sanctioned posts for teachers.
Through concerned ZEOs, students of these schools are provided the advantage of mid-day meal, furniture and teaching aids.
Other shortages will be looked into and efforts made to make up the shortages, assured TD Minister Phungzathang Tonsing.
