The inquiry conducted to establish the veracity of the allegation of ferrying Tobacco items in a vehicle of the Postal Department has been completed and the report of the same submitted to the Postal authority today.
'I have received and gone through the report and we are very much concerned about anything that might tarnish the image of the whole Postal Department', said T Mang Min Thang, Director of Postal Services, Agartala.
Responding to a query, the officer said disciplinary action would be initiated against them, Kangpokpi Post Master, Driver and Peon, as per the Department (Central Services) Rules.
Volunteers of AMADA pulled up the three employees namely Md Abdul Salam (postmaster of Kangpokpi Post office), Maibam Nabachandra (staff driver) and Salam Open (Peon) for their involvement in carrying the Tobacco items which reportedly belonged to one trader identified as Sahu who was also caught along with the consignment on April 18.The seized consignment which include Raja Khaini, Talab and Zarda and estimated to worth over Rs 1 crore have been destroyed by setting it on fire by the anti-drug campaigners.
