Workshops on agricultural techniques held

Troops of 43 Assam Rifles of 59 Mountain Brigade under the aegis of Red Shield Division carried out liaison with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hengbung and organized workshops on improvement of crop production.
The workshops have been organized part of an endeavour to increase the awareness in scientific agricultural techniques amongst the farmers of remote villages in Hill Districts of Manipur, a PIB (Defense Wing) statement said.
A two day workshop was conducted by a five member team of scientists from KVK at KPI and Motbung for imparting vocational training to women farmers emphasizing on 'Learning by farming' method of skill training.
The speakers elaborated on the importance of employment generation for farmers by education them on potential of pulses and oilseeds, growing vegetables for income generation, commercial floriculture, planning and poultry production as well as management practices and plant protection measures.
The scientists also interacted with the farmers and answered their queries.
More than 180 farmers were benefitted by the workshop, the statement claimed.
