NE painting camp commences

A seven day painting camp for North East India jointly organised by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and Manipur State Kala Akademi has commenced today at Government Dance College, Palace Compound, Imphal.
Lalit Kala Akademi awardee, Th Tombi and retired Director, Arts and Culture Dr Kh Sorojini graced the inaugural function as chief guest and president.
Speaking in the occasion, Th Tombi said stressed the need of establishing an art studio in the state.
This will produce creativity in the mind of the artists and will help in bringing out more meaningful masterpieces from the artists.
In a speech, Dr Kh Sorojini said that Arts and Culture Department has no distinct achievement in the field of painting.
Contribution of the department is very important to develop the art form in the state.
In such pitiable situation, painters in the state are striving for success on their own without anyone's help.
People should give support to them.
Fine Arts one of the major branch of the art form is the most important branch, she said.
Three artists from Manipur, three from Assam, two each from Mizoram and Tripura are participating in the weeklong painting camp.
