Imphal, January 23, 2011:
MLA, Ng Bijoy came to the rescue of the non-local mason who has been accused of raping a woman co-worker on January 18. Contradicting the charge levelled against mason, Jitendra Prasad from Bihar, and presently residing at a rented house in Nagamapal by a woman and Minuthong Hatta Golapati Athletic Union, Khurai A/C MLA, Ng Bijoy said that it was a conspiracy to rescue some persons involved in the abduction of the non-local mason for ransom.
Md Ajijur (34) son of late Noor Ahmad of Yairipok Bamon Leikai, a driver of the police department and now posted at the Imphal West police commando reserve line is the leader of the gang behind the foiled kidnapping of mason Jitendra, Bijoy alleged in a briefing to reporters today.
He also named the other gang members as Md Abbas (21) son of Late Noor Ahmad of Yairipok, Md Hakim (27) of Thoubal Moijing who were arrested by the police and that another culprit is still at large.
A complaint has already been lodged to the Porompat PS against Ajijur and his three gang members, Bijoy added.
The untruthful statement made by the advisor of the Minuthong Hatta Golapati Athletic Union, Haji Arafat to the media persons yesterday was nothing but to save the said four persons.
Levelling a rape charge is a very unfortunate act, the MLA said.
Jitendra who hails from a village in Bihar's Motihari district is only 18 years old.
He was among four labourers hired by the advisor for construction of his house.
Jitendra was abducted by four persons led by Ajijur on his way to his work site on January 18. Ajijur contacted one of the three labourers to pay Rs.50,000 for the release of Jitendra.
MLA Bijoy said that the labourers negotiated the amount to Rs.12,500 even though abductors had insisted to pay at least Rs.16,000. After one of the labourers entered a tea stall near the Public Hospital, Hatta Minuthong, to meet the abductors, Bijoy's escort personnel contacted the Imphal East police who arrested three of the four member gang and rescued the kidnapped Jitendra.
The MLA said that Jitendra told him about his abduction and that he was kept locked in a room charged of raping a woman.
A man with a hand gun guarded him all the time.
Jitendra denied the rape charge levelled against him.
Bijoy further said, all that he had done was only to help the labourers, the weaker section of the society and it was done so not knowing that a police commando would be involved in such a crime of abducting people for ransom.
