11 undergo cataract operation

Altogether 11 persons underwent successful cataract operation yesterday at an eye camp organised by the Eye Care Foundation of Sky Hospital and Research Centre and the Manipur State Blindness Control Programme at the hospital's Porompat premises.
The eye camp was held under the National Programme for Control of Blindness.
Speaking to media persons today after distributing medicines to the individuals who underwent cataract operation, Sky Hospital and Research Centre chairman Dr L Shyamkishore said that eye camps would be held in all districts of Manipur in association with Manipur State Blindness Control Society and those who require cataract operation would be operated free of cost.
The first such eye camp was held in Bishnupur district on March 2 and 149 persons were diagnosed.
After 12 persons who required cataract operation were identified, five of them underwent cataract operation at Sky Hospital and Research Centre, Porompat yesterday.
