Having pedalled through the seven North Eastern States last year spreading the message of peace and regional harmony, 18 year old Sougaijam Bidyalakshmi of Lakhipur in Jiribam sub-division today embarked on a mission to New delhi to protest violence against women and racial attacks on people from the region at the National capital.
Bidyalakshmi's cycle rally to the national capital was flagged off from Manipur Press Club today and will end at New Delhi on March 12 .
The rally being organised by Imphal Solidarity Group in association with Manipuri Students' Association Delhi was jointly flagged off by the Schedule Tribe Demand Committee president Prof Y Mohendro and former kakching AC MLA Y Thambal.

Conveying that objective of the latest venture is to highlight need for protecting rights of the women, Bidyalakshmi said she is equally concerned at the recent spate of attacks against the people of North East in the national capital.
Earlier, from August 21 till October 11, 2013 with Palace Compound as the starting point, she had covered nearly 3875 kilometres through the States of Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam and Mizoram spreading the dual message of stopping violence against women and promote peace in the region.
