Imphal, March 06 2014 :
Taking serious note of the Hueiyen Lanpao's report on leakage of Physics question paper for the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (AISSCE)-2014 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on March 5, State Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro has written a letter to CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi seeking strict action against the defaulting officials and reexamination for the "leaked" Physics paper.
Besides writing the letter, the Education Minister also reportedly spoke to the CBSE Chairman over phone this evening requesting for taking up necessary measures for conducting re-examination for Physics.
Earlier during the day, Education Minister Okendro convened an emergency meeting of Government officials including Chairmen and Secretaries of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) at his office chamber here this afternoon.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the conduct of CBSE schools in the State, particularly complaints raised by some students' bodies regarding malpractices in examinations.
It was also discussed as to how those students, who did not get through the examinations conducted by BSEM and COHSEM, could easily pass the CBSE examinations with flying colours.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Okendro said that the State Government would soon bring out a policy to keep the CBSE schools under its control.
The Government would closely monitor the functioning of all CBSE schools in the State.
If necessary, the State Government would take decision to cancel the recognition of those schools which do not follow proper guidelines.
He further said that the question papers for BSEM and COHSEM examinations are kept securely at the Police Stations under double locking system.
However, the authorities of CBSE have never asked the State Government to provide necessary security for conducting their examinations in the State.
As a result, the CBSE examinations are being conducted at their own whims and desires.
The leakage of question paper is a consequence of their own acts, Education Minister averred.
The State Government would not remain silent to this issue.
The higher authorities of CBSE have been urged to take strict action against the erring officials and conduct reexamination of the Physics paper at the earliest, Okendro asserted.
