Lamka, March 06 2014 :
Former MP, Mani Charenamei who is set to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha poll today said he will raise the people's issues in the purest form and in the right perspective without any twist whatsoever if he is elected.
'My foremost priority will be to raise your issues in the Parliament in the purest form and in the right perspective,' he said at Lamka Press Club, even as he hinted that political parties have often twisted local issues even if they indeed raise them at all.
He also assured to take up issues without any biases.
The former MP who had lost to Thangso Baite in the last poll also stated his stand on AFSPA and the disturbed area tag saying, the two entities have widened the gap between the mainland people and North-east denizens and will continue to elements of alienation.
He added that the continuance of these laws, instead of wining over the people in the region, will only compel them to think otherwise.
Claiming that non-rationalisation of constituencies in the State is depriving the tribal people of rightful representation, he said that he would see to it that delimitation is carried out in Manipur if elected.
The delimitation exercise will ensure more seats for the tribal whom he said is presently under-represented.
In an apparent attempt to get the sympathy of the Christian community, he also said he will work to see that atrocities are not committed against the Christian community.
He made a number of Churachandpur-specific promises as well.
Ensuring all weathered road communication on the two major highways of the district to improve the economy; satisfactorily address of portable water problem of the town; to make Behiang an official Border Trade Centre; and to earmark whatever required for Lamka Press Club to install an office complete with modern technology are some of the many promises he made to woo the votes here.
