Imphal, March 06 2014 :
Taking serious note of the reports that Physics question paper for All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination 2014 was available one day ahead of the exam schedule, the State Government has initiated due measures to formulate a policy which can check the functioning of schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary School.
Education Minister M Okendro convened a meeting on the matter at his Secretariat North Block office today.
COHSEM Chairman Dr Hamom Naba, COHSEM Secretary Sarangajit Khundrakpam, BOSEM Chairman Potshangbam Dhanakumar and many educationists were present at the meeting.
The meeting deliberated on reports and complaints made by different sections including student organisations about CBSE-affiliated schools flouting rules and promoting use of unfair means during secondary examinations.
It also took note that CBSE-affiliated schools have turned their attention to enable students pass secondary exams even as those students could not clear exams conducted by BOSEM and COHSEM.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Education Okendro stated that due measures would be initiated to frame a specific policy under which CBSE-affiliated schools can be monitored effectively.
The policy would be tabled before the State Cabinet for due approval.
For schools found flouting rules, necessary steps for de-recognition may be initiated.
For exams conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary School, Manipur, question papers are kept at police stations under double locking system.
As for the exams conducted by CBSE, the concerned authority do not ask anything from the State Government for their safe keeping.
Nonetheless, the State Government would not simply keep quiet.
All rogue schools would be brought under intensive scanner.
The State Government would write to the relevant authority to re-conduct Physics paper exam for which questions were reportedly leaked in the State, Okendro added.
Meanwhile a late report informed that the Education Minister talked with Central Board of Secondary Education, Chairman Vineet Joshi over telephone and asked the latter to re-conduct the Physics exam.
