Two persons reportedly involved in stealing an electric transformer of 63 KV capacity, kept for running Uyan Water Supply scheme have been pulled up by Thoubal Police.
The two accused have been identified as Hijam Bikram (31) s/o Muhindro of Thoubal Athokpam Awang Leikai and Soibam Kiran (31) s/o late Iboyaima of Thoubal Achouba.
On receiving a report that the transformer stolen on August 7 has been sold to the villagers of Sagoltongba, Thoubal Police pulled up the two accused today.
In the course of questioning, the duo disclosed that the sold the transformer at Rs 60,000. Acting on their disclosure, a police went to Sagoltongba and brought back the transformer.
The electric transformer was already installed and necessary connections made and put into operation for about a week at Sagoltongba where it was sold by the thieves, said a police source.
