The All Manipur Christians Organisation (AMCO) today appealed to bring an agreement between the villagers of Mapou village of Saikhul sub-division in Senapati district with the militant group behind the threatening of village to leave the village before thing goes worsen.
Speaking to reporters at a pres conference held at the conference of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), Chingmeirong today, AMCO general secretary Rev Vumthang said that a team of AMCO along with some social organisations visited the village today and held interactions with the villagers including village chief, chairman of village authority and pastor of the village.
Villagers who received a notice to vacate the village within five days are leading a life of fear of revisit the armed militants to their place again.
Apart from threatening the villagers of Mapou village, the same was also received by the villagers of neighbouring Thangal village as disclosed by the chief of the village.
It was an unfortunate thing and the thing may go worsen if any misunderstanding is created among the different communities, he feared and appealed to end the impasse before the matter allow to escalate.
